Research Associate, National Endowment for Democracy

The Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellows Program at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) seeks Research Associates to work closely with Reagan-Fascell Fellows in residence at NED’s International Forum for Democratic Studies for the 2009-2010 fellowship year (October 1, 2009-July 31, 2010).

Each research associate is assigned to work with several fellows.  Duties include: consulting with fellows on the shape and direction of their projects; providing research, written, and editorial support; facilitating outreach (identifying key experts around town with whom fellows may wish to meet, etc.); aiding in the preparation and follow-up of fellows’ events and presentations; and assisting staff with projects, including the annual competition, events, publications, and promotion.  For full details please click here.  

Media Center Assistant, National Endowment for Democracy

The Center for International Media Assistance (CIMA) is an initiative of the National Endowment for Democracy.  It focuses on promoting free and independent media worldwide through its research, discussions and ability to provide information. 

The Media Center Assistant reports to CIMA’s Senior Director and Consulting Manager and Editor and is responsible for the following: assist the senior director of the Center for International Media Assistance with the day-to-day operations of the center; keep records, databases, calendar, and  information updated; manage contracts and payments; organize and respond to outside inquiries and correspondence; research issues and organizations in media assistance; maintain a working knowledge of key groups and people in the field; update and maintain CIMA Web site; take notes at meetings and events as assigned, and assist with preparations for conferences, meetings, and public events.  For full details please click here.

Country Program Director, American Center for International Labor Solidarity, (based in Abuja, Nigeria)

The Country Program Director is responsible for the effective management of a field office and field programs. S/he is the representative of the Solidarity Center and the AFL-CIO in the country or region of assignment. S/he is thoroughly conversant with all aspects of regional program activities and current events relevant to the ongoing political, economic, social, and trade union developments in the country or region. The Country Program Director has sound judgment and a good political sense that facilitate decision-making, particularly for times when headquarters cannot be reached for consultation. The Council’s Studies Program is one of the country’s largest foreign policy think tanks with a widely respected and influential research staff.  The Studies Program’s aim is to advance the discussion of American foreign policy and international affairs through its writing, publications, public outreach, and discussions.

Senior Human Rights Officer, OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Senior Human Rights Officer (SHRO) will be posted in Banja Luka Office. The Senior Human Rights Officer (SHRO) primary responsibility is to manage and co-ordinate the advocacy efforts of the Human Rights Officers (HROs) and their teams (HRTs) with local officials and civil society in their area of responsibility (AoR). The SHRO is the focal point for communication between headquarters and FOs and is responsible for ensuring clear and regular feedback exchange. Program Assistant, U.S. Institute of Peace

The United States Institute of Peace is an independent non-partisan institution established by Congress to increase the nation’s peace building capacity. The Program Assistant’s main responsibilities will be: arrange and coordinate conferences and meetings; make travel arrangements both domestically and aboard in zones of conflict according to federal travel regulations and prepare expense vouchers; Track and manage budget expenditures; act as a liaison between program officers and administrative departments to ensure compliance with federal regulations in program planning and execution; and prepare and monitor contracts; maintain office files and perform other related duties.  For full details please click here.

Director, EastWest Institute (based in New York, New York)

The EastWest Institute (EWI) is a think tank that helps devise policy strategies and mobilizes people, organizations, and nations to help implement them. The Director leads the EWI Program on ‘Transforming Relations: Russia, China and the West’  through public and private meetings, policy analysis, publications and network development.
