The Obama administarion's North Korean human rights nominee wants to see (or hear?) more pro-democracy broadcasting

The Obama administration’s prospective Special Envoy for North Korean human rights has called for more pro-democracy broadcasting into North Korea, just as the founder of Free North Korean Radio, is awarded an international human rights prize.

The Taiwan Foundation for Democracy has awarded its 2009 Asia Democracy and Human Rights Award to Mr. Kim Seoung Min, founder of Free North Korean Radio, a grantee of the National Endowment for Democracy.

Dr. Robert King told his nomination hearing on Capitol Hill that he wants to see more pro-democracy broadcasting, more assistance for refugees and more cooperation from China on human rights. The North’s kidnapping of Japanese citizens is “one of the most egregious human rights violations“, he told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
