Assistant to the Vice President for Government Relations and Public Affairs – National Endowment for Democracy

This position reports directly to the Vice President of Government Relations and Public Affairs.

The incumbent will be exposed to international visitors, speakers, and activists who are working in support of democratic development and human rights. NED is the home of the International Forum for Democratic Studies, the Journal of Democracy, and serves as the secretariat for the World Movement for Democracy. The ideal candidate will possess a B.A. in international affairs, politics, or a similar field. He or she will have a strong interest in democracy promotion and a desire to gain experience in the international non-profit sector. The candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and solid organizational skills. Previous work experience in a similar field and Capitol Hill experience are both strongly preferred. The position offers competitive salary and excellent benefits. Senior Electronic Resources Librarian- National Endowment for Democracy

Develop and make available information resources and databases for the DRC, NED, CIMA and World Movement web sites.  Design and conduct training on library and Internet research resources for NED staff, fellows, grantees, and other democracy researchers and activists.  The position reports to the Director of the Democracy Resource Center (DRC).

Senior Director of Finance- National Endowment for Democracy

The Senior Director of Finance (SDF) is a member of the senior management team and is responsible for the protection of the NED’s financial assets and reputation as a responsible steward of those resources.  The SDF works cooperatively with all departments to effectively budget, monitor and track finances to achieve NED’s programmatic, operational and financial goals in a manner consistent with NED’s mission, vision and values.

The SDF maintains a strategic approach to financial management and leads financial planning, development and maintenance of an effective and service oriented financial management infrastructure including budgeting, financial monitoring and reporting.   In addition, this position is responsible for leading the development and maintenance of efficient and cost-effective financial services, for leading and managing the finance department in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and best practices and for optimizing relationships with banks and other external service providers.

Freedom of Expression Officer, Advocacy Department – Washington, D.C. – Freedom House

Under the direction of the Director of Advocacy, the Freedom of Expression Officer will spearhead Freedom House’s expanding efforts to counter restrictions on freedom of speech around the world. The Freedom of Expression Officer will work in a variety of capacities. He or she will act as a researcher and analyst, making use of Freedom House data to determine trends in freedom of expression over time within particular countries as well as across borders. Chief of Party, Community Policing Program- Bangladesh
