Democracies that deliver

Democracies that deliver genuine improvements in citizens’ lives are more robust than regimes that may hold periodic elections but fail to build the democratic institutions and strong markets necessary for sustainable development. So says Anne-Marie Slaughter, the State Department’s Director of Policy Panning and a leading figure in the ongoing Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review will create a “smart power” blueprint for U.S. diplomacy and development.

“Those same conditions that allow for the creativity and entrepreneurship which make markets work are also the same mechanisms that build a vibrant civil society and the mechanisms of accountability which make democratic institutions work, ” she told the “Democracy that Delivers” conference organized by the Center for International Private Enterprise.

One response to “Democracies that deliver”

  1. Dear Sir,
It looks very well that more political interest can be easily devastating into reality for an advance developments if the conditions that allow the creativity and entrepreneurship which then makes markets works does not enforce properly
