Rafik Hariri Center for the Middle East
Associate Director and Editor, EgyptSource
The Atlantic Council seeks a talented writer, editor, area expert, and entrepreneurial thinker to oversee the development and expansion of the online presence of the Atlantic Council’s Rafik Hariri Center for the Middle East. At present, the associate director would dedicate the majority of his or her efforts to writing for, managing, and expanding the EgyptSource blog. In the future, the associate director would oversee the development of a well-integrated web portal (blogs, website, and social media outreach) providing news and analysis of the rapidly changing political and economic landscape of the Arab world.
EgyptSource is a new but rapidly growing blog that follows Egypt’s transition and provides a platform for Egyptian perspectives on the major issues – economic, political, legal, religious, and human rights – that are at stake in the post-Mubarak era. In addition to maintaining and improving this established blog, the associate director must possess the creative vision and ambition to leverage EgyptSource as the pilot project for broader web presence with greatly expanded coverage of the countries undergoing political and economic transitions in the Middle East.
The successful candidate must have knowledge of the Middle East, near-native reading and speaking ability in Arabic, strong writing and editorial skills, and the ambition to expand an already successful blog to include innovative multimedia features and bilingual content. In addition, the Hariri Center seeks a candidate that will demonstrate the initiative and ambition to pursue independent research and raise the Center’s profile through publications and media engagement.
