Freedom House has appointed David J. Kramer as the organization’s new executive director.
Currently a Senior Transatlantic Fellow at the German Marshall Fund, Kramer served as Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor from March 2008 to January 2009.
“David Kramer is highly respected within the democracy and human rights field and across the political spectrum,” said William H. Taft, IV, chair of the Freedom House board. “He has demonstrated throughout his career a firm commitment to the causes of global freedom, U.S. engagement in the world, and bipartisan consensus.”
Kramer succeeds Jennifer Windsor who joins Georgetown’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service as associate dean.
