Absurdity reigns in Kafkaesque Russia

 

“We have been put on earth to make Kafka come true”, Soviet citizens would say.

The institutional corruption that marred IKEA’s attempt to build a model business in Russia shows that Kafka’s Castle is finally collapsing, writes Andrei Loshak. The good news is that ordinary Russians are losing their fear – and getting angry.
